How`s this for "the Best Idea since the MINI" award! A inexpensive tool that allows you to change your own oil simply, with no mess, without having to raise your car. That`s right! Change the oil from the top of the engine compartment!
The Top Side Oil Changer sucks the oil out from the engine oil pan via the dip stick tube. Simply insert the supplied siphon hose into the dipstick tube to the bottom of the oil pan. Clamp off the hose with the supplied clamp. Pump the Top Sider, release the clamp and go have a beer. Or, instead you could use that time to replace the oil filter which is also accessible from the top of the engine although you`ll need a special 36mm socket to remove the filter canister (See related Products link at the bottom of this page). After the oil`s out you simply cap off the 2 Gallon Oil Container with the supplied extra caps and take your used oil to a certified oil recycling facility (usually your local mechanic`s shop). Please do the right thing and don`t pollute the environment.
With the extended period of time, and mileage, our MINIs go between recommended service intervals it`s always a good idea to change your oil between these services. Especially if you`re driving your MINI like an enthusiast should. With the Top Side Oil Changer this is now an easy and inexpensive task.
MINI recommends Castrol Syntec Full Synthetic oil to retain your factory warranty. Castrol Syntec is available from most local automotive retailers. Approximately 5 quarts of oil will be required.
